God’s Tests Are Open Book

I remember back when I was in High School I sometimes dreaded exams.  But whenever the teacher announced that it would be an open book test I breathed a sigh of relief because I knew I was going to ace it.  I would be in need of some serious prayer and perhaps remediation if I can’t pass an open book test.

As believers we are in God’s school of life until we breathe our last breath.  God intends for us to constantly and consistently be in a state of learning, growing and maturing. And make no mistake about it, there are many tests along the way.

God’s tests are designed to bring out the best in us (James 1:2-5, NKJV).  Our testing by God will reveal our character and integrity (Psalms 105:16-19 NLT), what is really in our heart (II Chronicles 32:31, NKJV), our love for and obedience to Him (Genesis 22 :1-2, NKJV); it will also cultivate in us the fruit of patience (Romans 5:3, KJV) and increase our faith (I Peter 1:7, NLT).

God is omniscient so He already knows all about us, including those things within our heart that we think are hidden.  The tests and trials we go through are intended to be self- revelatory so that once we become aware we can self-correct, empowered by the Holy Spirit of course.  But God in His infinite love and grace and mercy has idiot proofed His tests, He makes them open Book because He wants us to get an A plus.  No matter what we are facing in life, what dilemma we have to deal with or decision we have to make, the answers can be found in The Book.

The Bible tells us that there is “… nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9 AMP) so even if your particular issue is not specifically addressed, there will be a principle that applies.  So when the Teacher (Jesus) drops a pop quiz on you don’t worry, don’t fear, don’t fret and get all discombobulated, just open the Book and you’ll pass with flying colors.
